The results of the fire were 69 homes lost, 35 caravans/cabins lost, 45 homes damaged and 810 homes saved or not affected. No businesses, except for 1 caravan park, were impacted and all re opened by Monday 26 March.
Many parts of the town were not affected and the best way to support the town is to come and visit, have a coffee, meal or stay - the town, sporting activities and beach were all unaffected. Thank you to the many visitors that came to Tathra over the Easter and since - it has been a great response.
The Mayoral Appeal exceeded $1.6M in donations and has distributed over $1.1M to affected residents. It is expected that all funds will be distributed by Christmas.
The repairs to damaged housed and associated assets, such as sheds, fences & retaining walls have been substantially completed. In regard to the rebuilding of lost houses, one is just about complete and approximately 10 are at various stages of construction.
The Tathra Fires Recovery centre is now located at the Tathra Beach Apartments and staffed six days a week, including Thursday evening.
