With the help of Rotary Club of Bega, students at Wolumla Public School have been able to be involved the Solar Buddies Program, which aims to provide solar lights to students in other countries who do not have lighting at home and therefore cannot study at night.  Some students in Africa have to gather at service stations at night in order to have any light to study by.
The Wolumla students have assembled the solar lights which will be sent to students in Tanzania so that they can study at night and achieve a better education. The Rotary Club of Bega sponsored the project that is part of a larger project to gift 6 million solar lights to children living in energy poverty by 2030, to help them to study after dusk and improve their education outcomes.
